About us

This series of books has been created for new and expectant mothers. Since becoming mothers ourselves our lives have changed dramatically, it has been an amazing transformation and has been at times overwhelming, exciting, challenging and rewarding - sometimes all in the one day! We have learnt so much during this time about the value of motherhood and the importance of the need for support during this challenging and often isolating time. We are passionate about helping mothers and believe that we can help children and whole families by supporting, encouraging and empowering their mothers. These books cover topics such as coping with post natal depression, encouraging communication with your partner, ensuring you have a strong support network and knowing when to ask for help yet always in a positive and inspiring way.

Authors of 'What I wish I knew before I became a mother' Peace Mitchell & Katy Garner

Peace and Katy are sisters who were fortunate enough to become mothers at the same time. During their time at home with their babies they found that motherhood was not as easy as it looks and were inspired to help other mothers. Together with their friends Peace and Katy established a number of local playgroups, campaigned for improved parenting facilities, built a playground for local families and established an award-winning non-profit organisation called Mothers Helping Others. They are passionate about helping families and believe that we can help young children by supporting, encouraging and empowering mothers. "The original idea for this series came from the realisation that becoming a mother is not simply about giving birth and waiting for your maternal instincts to kick in. The skills necessary for motherhood are learnt. Times have changed and for many mothers the first time they hold a newborn is when their own baby is born, our society has lost many of the skills which were traditionally learnt incidentally as part of everyday life in a large closeknit family and our goal was to create a book with practical tips which other mothers could relate to and hopefully make their journey a little easier."

Author of 'Guilty Stories' and 'Overcoming Motherguilt' (the next titles in the Love Being a Mother series) Claudette Betterridge

Before losing the plot and endeavouring to find it again, Claudette studied Psychology and Education, worked in Hospitality and as a Research Assistant, taught in Primary Schools, Day Care Centres and High School Wood Workshops and was Learning Support Officer for several TAFE colleges. Being a Mum for even a short time has taught her more lessons than could properly be described in any one tome of work and it is her aim to help other Mums reunite with themselves on their journey through motherhood and life. Claudette is currently working on the next book in the ‘Love Being a Mother’ series.
