Peace Mitchell is the co-author of 'What I wish I knew before I became a mother'.

Peace is passionate about families and was named Johnstone Shire 2008 Australia Day Citizen of the year for her work in creating a more family friendly environment in her local community.


In 2006 Peace co founded not for profit organisation,
Mothers Helping Others Inc. with her sister and friends Liz Provians and Karen Portelli following the devastation of Cyclone Larry. In just 3 years this group has grown to more than 20 members, has published a book of children's stories, built a new public playground, held a photographic exhibition for mothers, established a young parents playgroup, implemented a community literacy program, run a range of parenting workshops and held a glamourous charity girls night out, this group continues to make a difference in their local community and beyond through community partnerships with local businesses, corporate sponsors and the Council.



Peace is a member of the board of management of
Playgroup Queensland and is the voice for families with young children in regional and rural Queensland in this role. As a committed member of Playgroup Queensland she keeps up to date with the perceptions, expectations and issues facing modern families today.

Peace is an experienced teacher and has taught in all areas of schooling from early childhood and primary through to secondary and as such has an excellent understanding of the needs, interests and abilities of children of all ages.

She currently works for
Boolarong Press as a publishing representative and enjoys working with aspiring authors, writers and artists in this role.

She is married to Ivan, mother to three young children and has lived in Tropical North Queensland all her life.
